We are pretty excited to have secured this special car. 6 cylinder
sporting MGs are offered for sale very rarely. We have an excellent
file with this car, which includes a copy of the original warranty
document from when the car was first sold. The previous owner bought
the car in around 1970. A photograph of the car at that time shows
a complete car in need of restoration. The total rebuild, from bare
frame upwards, was finally completed around 1993. There is a large
file of receipts for services and parts, along with photographs of
the various stages or rebuild. Unfortunately poor health prevented
the owner from using and enjoying the car very much at all. We understand
that under 400 miles have been covered since completion.
The N type MG's were an important model for the company, and incorporated
many technical and styling developments. The traditional slab petrol
tank was now disguised behind a very elegant swept tail. The NB was
a development of the NA with a revised lower scuttle and front hinged
doors. A slated radiator also distinguishes the model. It was the
last overhead cam MG, being in it's turn replaced by the four cylinder
over head valve VA model. The very definition of a collector's MG
this stylish sportscar has a very bright future.
Information from the Triple MMM Register confirms that this is one
of only 98 examples of the model built. It is not known how many of
these survive today. Our car has a register number of 406, making
it a car that has been known to them for a considerable time. The
6 cylinder single overhead camshaft engine produced 56 bhp and the
model was considered to have a top speed of around 80mph.
