Jaguar Mk1 1957

This is a most remarkable Mk1. Supplied new right hand drive to Switzerland in April 1957. Following a minor incident in the mid 1960s the car remained in storage for nearly 50 years! It was then found and brought back to the UK in 2015 to start a new life. The body and structure were found to be amazingly sound but the decision was taken to renew the tired paintwork with a full bare metal repaint. The car was gone through mechanically including a new radiator, stainless steel exhaust, fuel pump, dampers and tyres. Some trim items were renewed and the woodwork polished.

The car currently shows 50,000 Klms or 31,250 Miles which is believed to be the correct mileage from new! It is one of the best bodies we have seen on a Mk1 or a Mk2 for that matter. The manual gearbox and original 2.4 litre engine are sweet and the entire car feels it's miles.

I can't imagine there is a better more original Mk1 on the market today.

The Mk1 Jaguar has a distinct identity from the Mk2. It is simply more "period". Very early cars had narrow rear axles and often full rear spats. They were of course improved and developed over the years.

Our car has the later rear axle and half spats but retains the earlier narrow grill.

Increasingly respected and admired.
