Lotus Elan Sprint 1971

This Oh-so-pretty Elan Sprint started life as a coupe but was totally restored over a 7 year period (1992- 1999) using a new drop head body (NOT a chop job). This is well documented as is confirmation that it has always been a Sprint. The chassis has been renewed with a Spyder item of very similar design to the original, as so many have been. It features solid driveshafts and Spyder wishbones,  there is an ally radiator and electric fan as well as electronic ignition, stainless steel exhaust, alternator, alloy fuel tank etc. It is a very well sorted little car indeed with an excellent stack of paperwork etc.

The current owner has had some nine Elans over the years as well as various MGs, Ferraris and even a GT40!. He was in fact the Financial Director of the London Lotus Centre as a younger chap, so knows his stuff. The car was properly repainted to a very high standard in 2018 and the wheels were refreshed as well. Seats were refurbished in 2017.

A great little car and a considerable saving over a comparable original drop head. We are selling the car on behalf of the owner who has been a good friend for over 30 years. We doubt you will find a better example on the market today.

SOLD

Simply the best little sportscar of it's era. Timeless style and a brilliant ground breaking design.

Often imitated but never bettered. Elans are still a force to be reckoned with in historic racing, regularly performing great giant killing acts.

Technically actually pretty simple so easy to live with. Perfect.
